Texas Smokehouse Sauce is an old style Texas traditional BBQ sauce with a grande smokehouse flavor. It is hands down a competitive sauce for the everyday cook. We also have different types of rubs as well. Taste the sweet flavor of our Texas rib rub, it has just enough sugar flavor but a distinct note of spices.
You can use Texas Smokehouse Sauce for just about any type of cooking that you do. You can toss some chicken wings in some sauce and watch them quickly disappear. If you are cooking a brisket or some ribs you can glaze them about 15 minutes before you pull them off the pit and then serve with your favorite side dish.
The original version of Texas Smokehouse Sauce was called, you guessed it, Wohlt's Smokestack Bar-B-Q Sauce. It was conceived in the early 1970's and perfected through trial and error and many taste testings on steaks and briskets. It wasn't made to be something that was going to be marketed or pushed out to the public. It was created because of one simple need and idea. When everything else that is available to you at a store or market isn't satisfactory enough what do you do? Well i guess most people would just either live with the limited choices or complain. Instead we created our own recipe and began making our own sauce for our own needs.
Of course over time family members grew and friends tasted the BBQ sauce and before you know it there is a growing demand for jars of this deliciousness. As time went on more and more people began to try the BBQ sauce and get hooked on it so naturally we had to move on to producing more of it and bottling it as well. Back in the day the bottling was simple and it was just canned into mason jars and sold as singles to BBQ sauce hungry friends and family. It was never meant to be more than a family recipe and the recipe was kept strictly for the family only, so HANDS OFF.
Over time the word spreads like wildfire and our BBQ sauce is in high demand and the word is constantly spreading. We have evolved over the years and with that comes progress. But sometimes growth and progress isn't always a good thing right? Well that's were we are different because as we grow we have a few key things in mind. To keep the family recipe and ingredients a secret and also to keep true to the original recipe. We still make our BBQ sauce in the same tried and true manner as it has always been made and we enjoy making a superior product that always rises to the top.
As you have noticed by now our BBQ sauce isn't called Wohlt's Smokestack Bar-B-Q sauce any longer but its now under the name of Texas Smokehouse Sauce. Different name but as it has been stated before, the same tried and true recipe and ingredients.
